What are ICE Modules? In the audio
industry, ICE is a trademarked technology for Class D audio amplifier modules
with built-in switched-mode
power supplies. An ICE module is a small circuit board which
contains both a power amplifier and a power supply capable of powering not only
the associated power amp, but also the complete circuitry of the guitar
amplifier.
Fender is a pioneer in using ICE modules in guitar amps.
They are found in the Rumble 150, Rumble 200, Rumble 300, Rumble 500, Bassman
500 bass amps, as well as the new Tone Master series of modeling guitar amps.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Troubleshooting of
the amplifier must be performed by a qualified individual to ensure that the
original ICE module is actually the cause of the problem. A
failed ICE module typically causes the following symptoms: No
power, including no illumination of the pilot light, along with no sound
whatsoever. Note that the identical symptoms could also be
caused by something as simple as a dead power outlet in the building, a bad
power cord, or a defective power switch on the amplifier. Lack of
any sound could also be caused by a failed speaker.
ICE Modules are special order, and are therefore not returnable.
All modules are checked for proper operation before they are shipped.
Save yourself an unnecessary costly expenditure by determining first that your
ICE module is actually defective before placing an order. Having a
reputable and qualified technician check out the amplifier is recommended.
